Caring for Heroes
The concept of the series Caring for Heroes is from my unique experiences as a veteran but also a military spouse and full time caregiver for my husband who was injured by an IED and paralyzed while serving in the US Army. Sketching, photographing my sketches and then digitally painting them on my tablet gave me a portable artistic outlet as I waited in hospital rooms, surgical wards and traveled between military medical centers. It was a way to process my emotions while also supporting him thru his physical therapy, PTSD and grief.
Each painting on average took 1-2 weeks to complete and involved approx. 3500-5000 brush strokes. My paintings whether digital or mixed medium are sold as a single canvas with 10-25 limited edition giclee prints available.
